Alcoa Intalco Works Sponsors “Make an Impact Green Fair”

Ferndale, WA – June 26, 2013 – Alcoa is partnering with the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) to host the “Make an Impact Green Fair” at Alcoa Intalco Works to give employees and the public a chance to learn more about protecting the environment, saving energy, and saving money.
The Green Fair, to be held July 9 at Alcoa’s Intalco Works in Ferndale, will provide useful tips and resources from local businesses and organizations that promote sustainability. The fair will feature contests and giveaways and also sustainable food vendors. In addition, visitors are invited to take an Energy Pledge or complete the Make an Impact Carbon Calculator online at By entering the Promo Code “FERNDALE” visitors will be entered into a random drawing to win a $50 gift card.

The Alcoa Intalco Works Green Fair will include representatives from Sustainable Connections, ReSources, the City of Bellingham, the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association and more.

Make an Impact is a program provided by Alcoa Foundation andC2ES to mobilize individual action on climate change. Since its launch in September 2008, the program has helped Alcoa families and neighbors commit to save more than $2.3 million by reducing energy use, avoiding more than 43 million pounds of carbon emissions. 

“The Green Fair is a great way for Alcoa to demonstrate its mission of sustainability,” said Intalco Location Manager Barry Hullett. “It is a great community event that will give employees and our community the chance to meet with environmental groups in our area and learn more about products and choices that are good for the environment -- and their pocketbook.”
